Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains what data Unmute Athens uses to provide access, payments, offline use, analytics, location features, and optional notifications.

Data we collect

Depending on how you use the app, we may process:

  • email address collected during checkout and used for access links
  • Stripe checkout session and payment identifiers
  • access token hash and device hash for entitlement
  • browser/device information and user agent
  • selected language or locale
  • analytics events, if analytics is enabled
  • push notification endpoint and keys, only if you opt in
  • local app data such as visited stories, audio position, PWA prompt state, and offline cache state

Payment data

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number.

Location data

If you allow location access, the app uses your browser location to show nearby stories, map position, and walking-related features. Raw GPS coordinates are used in your browser session and are not stored in our database as a location history.

Offline access

After you unlock access, the app may automatically save unlocked story text, audio, images, and a lightweight offline map in your browser storage and service worker cache. This can happen shortly after access is granted so stories remain available when your connection is weak or unavailable.

Offline content is stored locally on your device. You can remove it by clearing site data in your browser settings.

Push notifications

If you enable notifications, we store a push subscription endpoint and related keys so we can send app notifications. You can disable notifications in your browser or device settings, and where available from the app settings page.

Service providers

We use third-party services to run the app:

  • Supabase for database, storage, and access records
  • Stripe for payment processing and tax calculation
  • Vercel for hosting
  • Resend for access-link email
  • PostHog for analytics, if enabled
  • Google Maps for live map features, if enabled

Retention

We keep purchase and access records as long as needed to provide access, support users, prevent abuse, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes. Local app data can be cleared from your browser/device storage.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of your personal data. Contact support@unmute-athens.com to make a request.
